Ella believes that she is extremely lucky to have had the resources she did when beginning recovery, and after watching friends be forced to leave treatment before they felt well, she believes it is of the utmost importance to improve equal access to eating disorder treatment to mitigate the devastating effects of these disorders.
Ella is a sophomore at Duke University studying neuroscience and chemistry on the pre-med track. She displays her interest in medicine through her work as an Emergency Medical Technician on campus and in her work in a pain research lab. She loves to be creative and try to promote change through art, so she is a member of the social media and marketing personnel for Duke’s chapter of Body Banter and the American Medical Women’s Association.
Ella is proud to be in eating disorder recovery and is excited about Project HEAL because it allows her to explore her passion for improving eating disorder treatment practices, as well as dismantling diet culture and combatting disordered eating on college campuses.
Ella’s favorite ice cream flavor is mint chocolate chip!
