Cam believes that access to treatment should not be based on stereotypes and stigmas surrounding eating disorders. She believes in raising awareness about eating disorders and those who are often underrepresented within the eating disorder community. Cam’s own recovery from anorexia in her teen years left her with the knowledge that recovery is possible, and that breaking down barriers for proper care is a crucial step in individual treatment.
As a Latine and a first-generation immigrant, Cam is passionate about social justice work and has worked with nonprofits serving BIPOC and immigrant communities in New York. In 2018, she led a grassroots organization to engage and mobilize working-class communities of color to the polls, as well as, help community members overcome barriers to civic participation.
Cam holds a Bachelor of Arts in linguistics from SUNY, Stony Brook University. She is also trained in French pastry having recently worked as a pastry cook and baker in Paris for almost two years. However, she’s extremely excited to re-shift her focus to the nonprofit sector and use her skills to serve marginalized communities.
Cam’s favorite ice cream is a Coolhaus Dirty Mint Chip ice cream sandwich.
